UNO Ceramic Coating, Explained: The Best First Coating to Install Yourself
Most people never coat their own car for one reason: they are scared of screwing it up. Fair. Plenty of coatings punish you for a first attempt. UNO was built to be the opposite of that.
What UNO is
UNO is our 1 year ceramic coating. It adds deep gloss, real slickness, and 12+ months of protection against UV and environmental fallout, and it installs more easily than anything else in its class. It now ships in a durable metal package with our fan favorite applicator pad in the box, so you are ready to go the moment it arrives.
One year is not a compromise. It is the honest sweet spot for a daily driver: long enough that washes get dramatically easier and the paint stays protected through the seasons, short enough that you can refresh it in an afternoon instead of babying a five year install.
How the install actually goes
The process is short, and the prep matters more than the coating step.
- Decontaminate. The coating bonds to paint, not to whatever is sitting on it. Use our Clay Mitt and Fuego to pull out embedded contamination, and wash with Cleanse so the surface is free of oils and silicones.
- Polish if the paint needs it. By hand or machine. A coating locks in whatever finish is underneath it.
- Coat. Put 10 to 15 drops on the applicator pad and work a 2 foot by 2 foot area in overlapping straight line passes. Small sections, no rushing.

Is this actually beginner friendly?
Yes, and that is the point of UNO. Straight line passes in small sections, a forgiving formula, and the applicator included in the box. If you can wax a car, you can coat one with UNO.
How long does it really last?
12+ months on a properly prepped daily driver. Prep is the variable, which is why the decontamination step is not optional.
What does it protect against?
UV, environmental fallout, and everyday grime. The surface stays glossier, sheds water, and cleans up far faster on wash day.
Which size do I need?
The 50mL handles a standard car. If you are coating something big or want spare for a second vehicle, the 100mL is the better buy.
